Fall aesthetic is all about the cozy vibes. The first day of autumn is also the first day of sweater weather. People pull out the scarves, cozy boots, thick sweaters and leather jackets to prepare for the incoming cooler weather. It’s also a great time to still enjoy the outdoors because although the temperature has gone down, it’s not THAT cold.
The Color Codes for Fall Aesthetic
Fall aesthetic colors include natural shades that are rich but also slightly dark. Those colors include olive green, orange, mustard yellow and burgundy.
Black
Color Code: #000000
Black represents elegance and sophistication. It helps balance the colorful hues of the fall, while also adding a sleek and chic touch. Black is also considered powerful and mysterious (Halloween anyone?).
Think of black turtlenecks, leather jackets, warm but fashionable boots. Black cats also make an appearance in the fall during spooky season.
Navy Blue Aesthetic
Color Code: #22263E
The color navy blue originated from the uniforms of the Royal British Navy in the 16th century. During fall, navy blue pairs well with the golden hues of orange and mustard yellow. That’s because it allows those brighter shades to be the stars of the show and grab attention. Meanwhile navy blue provides stability and tradition, balancing everything out.
Think trench coats, dark wash jeans and the thickest, coziest sweaters and blankets.
Brown Aesthetic
Color Code: #381F14
When the leaves fall, they also turn brown! Brown serves as a backdrop to all of fall while the other colors stand out. It’s similar to how the color plays the background to green when we think of nature.
Similar to navy blue, brown creates a sense of stability as the weather gets chillier. It’s also one of the best neutral colors to use in any color palette because it feels grounding, wholesome and earthy.
Think of thick corduroy skirts, brown boots, turtlenecks and neutral flannel.
Burgundy Aesthetic
Color Code: #5C0601
Burgundy is such a sophisticated color, most likely because it gets its name from French wine that is the same hue. It feels powerful, it feels ambitious and it feels bold. Burgundy is also slightly intimidating (but less so than bright red) while also providing the perfect accent color to a neutral outfit.
Think light or dark wash jeans, white tops and beige or brown trench coats. They all pair well with burgundy.
Orange Aesthetic
Color Code: #FA6122
The color orange has such a strong association with autumn. From Thanksgiving to leaves falling off of trees to pumpkins patches and Halloween, orange is the top color of the season.
Orange also represents a season of transition and change. The fall is the time that signals the start of a new beginning, a transition or a major change.
While warm, orange is also very energetic and grabs attention. It balances out the overly calm feeling of the fall season and the coming winter months. Since orange is a combination of both red and yellow, it combines the mood of each color into one. Meaning that orange is both energetic (red) and joyful (yellow).
Mustard Yellow Aesthetic
Color Code: #FEB208
Mustard yellow got its name from the condiment and represents creativity and optimism. It also serves as a pop of color similar to orange and burgundy. Adding a mustard yellow purse or hat to an outfit makes a huge statement. This shade of yellow is said to be stimulating and energizing while having a bit of stability at the same time.
Olive Green Aesthetic
Color Code: #94925D
The color olive green, as the name suggests, takes after the fruit it gets its hue from. The color is often used in army uniforms as well, because it is so close to nature and blends in well with certain natural backgrounds. But olive green has so much more meaning behind it.
This shade of green creates feelings of warmth, harmony and empathy, which aligns well with the cozy vibes that we usually have during the fall season. Alongside burgundy, olive green has an air of sophistication and elegance, often worn at galas and dinner parties.

The Elements of Fall Aesthetic
These elements, or a combination of them are all part of fall aesthetic
Pumpkin Aesthetic
Pumpkins are a huge part of the fall, where they even have their own aesthetic. Pumpkin carving and pumpkin patches are great places and activities that create the perfect fall vibes. You can set up an impromptu Instagram photoshoot while carving pumpkins or create an adventurous TikTok video while exploring a pumpkin patch, grabbing the largest, roundest and brightest fruit you can find.
Stores like Homegoods and Target often have the beautiful fruit in decor form for sale during the season. Although the basis of this aesthetic is orange, you can often find white and green pumpkins to mix up your seasonal decorating.
Since the fruits are in abundance and readily available in the fall, cooking and baking with pumpkins is at an all time high. You can make your own pumpkin spice latte at home or head to your local Starbucks. Pumpkin pie is my favorite holiday dessert after cheesecake. Avocado toast using pumpkin spice bread is an underrated and quick meal to make (savory and sweet at the same time!).
Coffee
Drinking coffee in general is part of the perfect fall aesthetic vibe. The season reminds me of pumpkin spice lattes and the endless coffee that I drank during my first semester of college in the fall, when I discovered Starbucks.
Leaves
During the season, leaves go from their usual green and transition to deep oranges, reds and yellows. These colors set the tone and backdrop for autumn. Piles of maple, willow and white oak, just to name a few, have fallen from trees and set the right mood. These leaves are raked away or often left on the ground so we can admire their beauty.
Red Apples
These fruits ripen in October and November, which means that apple picking season comes around during the fall. They say that you’re really in love if you go apple picking with your significant other! Pies and caramel covered apples are also freshly prepared and readily available during this time.
S’mores
S’mores might be one of the best representation of the fall because it combines so many important elements. Cinnamon (graham crackers), chocolate, warmth, fireside, wood…need I say more? Planning a cozy bonfire and S’mores with your loved ones is a must do during the fall season.
The Style – Fall Aesthetic Outfit Inspiration
Outerwear, Sweaters & Scarves
Nothing says cozy like a sweater! Sweater weather truly starts in the autumn months. Since it’s not too cold, you can wear them with jeans or loosely fitting bottoms, whether you prefer cropped, cardigan style, or oversized.
Leather Aesthetic
I love leather and wish it were practical to wear during the summer. Often black, leather matches with almost anything and adds a touch of sophistication to any look. I highly recommend choosing vegan leather or faux leather.
Flannel Aesthetic
Flannel long sleeve shirts. Flannel scarves. Flannel sets and pjs. We’ve seen them all. Although flannel can quickly become tacky, it is still a fall favorite and can be worn tastefully.
Overalls Aesthetic
Overalls are one of the most underrated pieces of clothing. They often flatter most body types and can be paired with so many outfits. It’s definitely a staple for the fall (or any season!).
